A BAMILEKE ASSOCIATION

Welcome to the website of La Famille Bamileke d’Atlanta, also known as LAFABA Atlanta. LAFABA Atlanta was established in the year 2012 (previously ASIMBA) as a Bamileke Association in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. A Bamileke is a person whose ancestral heritage is from the Western Region of Cameroon. For purposes of our association, a Bamileke includes a person born of Bamileke parent(s), a person adopted by Bamileke parent(s), or a person affiliated by marriage to a Bamileke.

EMPHASIS ON SOLIDARITY

LAFABA Atlanta was created with a special emphasis on solidarity, mutual love, peace, and friendship among its members. The premise of the association is to treat each other like brothers and sisters, to be there for each other in times of happiness and in times of need, and to seek to bring together all Bamileke sons and daughters within the Atlanta Metro Area and the State of Georgia as a whole.

A FAMILY ASSOCIATION

A fundamental element of LAFABA Atlanta is its family orientation. We function as a family unit where everyone is treated as brothers and sisters. LAFABA Atlanta is a community of people who care about each other, and care deeply about our brothers and sisters in the Western Region of Cameroon. The association is committed to maintaining its family-oriented environment  as the root of its existence.

PRESERVATION OF CULTURE

LAFABA Atlanta was founded as a vehicle to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the Bamileke people of Cameroon far away from our motherland. As stewards of the Bamileke Culture, the members of LAFABA Atlanta have a responsibility to uphold our Bamileke cultural values as well as teach the younger generations what it means to be Bamileke.
